Years ago I discovered what it meant to pursue my dreams and fight to live a great story. Every day since then I’ve woken up on a mission to keep building my vision.
And it’s not easy.
Even years into the journey it’s still tough to keep executing at a high level sometimes. I need encouragement. I need motivation. I need reminders of why I’m doing it.
I’m fired up to introduce you to Jake Thompson and Compete Every Day today. Jake created his company to encourage and inspire those of us in the trenches working to escape the status quo.
- how he built the brand from scratch with no experience
- how he lost money one his biggest event last year
- advice on what you must get comfortable doing if you want to succeed

“My life is my message.”
– Mohandas Gandhi
Jake is the founder of Compete Every Day, a lifestyle brand for those select individuals who desire more from their life than the status quo. (side note, this is one of my all time favorite brands. Check it out!)
What was supposed to be his biggest sales event of 2014 was a huge failure and setback. That failure (and another one shortly after) set him up for a huge success as he shifted his strategy.
Rapid Fire Questions
One thing holding him back:
Procrastination. The more time I had at my disposal the more I put off projects. Couple that with the fear of failure and you’ve got a dangerous cycle.
One thing he gave up:
Switch to morning workouts. It got him up and moving early.
One characteristic that separates him from average:
Taking the first step. After that, the second step is easier. And the third even easier than that.
