Are you starting to notice it? Can you feel the excitement beginning to take root deep down inside of you?
That sense that you can actually change your life. You can build it and shape it into something uniquely yours.
That’s awesome! Great visions should make you feel like that.
But there’s something urgent that you must do today if you want to succeed. If you miss this crucial part, then all the dreaming, hoping, planning, and goal setting in the world won’t help you.
Today is the day you get started turning your vision into reality.
Not tomorrow. Not when school’s out, or the holidays are over, or your job lightens up.
Why you must start now
I’ve studied goal setting from some of the best: Darren Hardy, Zig Ziglar, Jim Rohn, and they all teach the same thing. The first 24 to 48 hours after you set your goals is the most critical time to get moving.
The momentum you create right now will eventually snowball into an unstoppable force.
You don’t have to do something massive, something incredible, or even something right.
Just get started!
“Well done is better than well said.”
– Benjamin Franklin
But watch out!
There’s something you must be on the lookout for. It will try to steal your vision and crush your dreams. It’s so sneaky you might not even notice it until it’s too late.
What is it? The fear of starting.
Fear of Starting will whisper lies in your ear to get you to give up on your dreams. He’ll trick you, deceive you, delay you.
- I’m not sure where to start.
- My plan isn’t quite ready yet.
- This isn’t a good time. I’ll begin when _____
- I’m not good enough yet.
- I’ll never be able to finish.
If you find any of these thoughts drifting across your mind – beware; Fear of Starting is at work.
Protecting Your Dreams
The only way to defeat Fear of Starting is to Start. The only way to give your vision a chance to shine is to begin right now.
You don’t have to start in the right place. You don’t have to be great. You don’t have to start with the right plan.
But you must begin.
What’s one thing you can do in the next 24 to 48 hours to start working towards your vision?
PS: If you’re not sure or you just don’t have a clue where to start, then GET a clue. Find some books on Amazon that could help you learn more about your interest. Find some people online who have don what you want to do. Find a podcast that could help you learn more.
It might not seem like something significant that will help you close the gap between you and your vision, but it is. Taking these small steps over and over is what will get you there – guaranteed.
