023: Bringing Your Vision To Life (with James Woosley)

July 16, 2014 By deacon 2 Comments

?????????????If I just had the resources Jon has then I’d be succeeding. If I had the fans that Cliff had then I could make it work. If people

It’s easy to put other people on a pedestal who are farther down the road from you. Their advantages are clear, their efforts are fruitful.

But none of that will get you where you need to go (probably not news to you is it).

James Woosley has been there just like me, just like you, and just like everyone else who goes down the road of building their own thing. Only James has one big difference that sets him apart – he’s learned how to execute in the face of those challenges.

At the most fundamental level James’s gift is helping people bring their visions to life. James can see the picture in your mind and help you plot the path on the map that will get you there.

In today’s session James talks about some of the key pieces to getting this to work, and he also shares some really great personal insights about his own journey putting these pieces together.

Listen to this interview to learn:
– Why James’s coach called him the biggest underachiever ever, and what James did about it.
– The tools that James put in place so he could discover his best work.
– Why 80% of the journey is looking inward, not outward.

021: Real success starts HERE (or pay the price!)

July 11, 2014 By deacon Leave a Comment

Successful people set goals, you know that already. But if you want to be successful and happy, then you’d better get the foundation right.

As I learned the hard way, achieving a big goal doesn’t always produce the results you want. You can reach a milestone only to be filled with tension and angst instead of fulfillment and satisfaction.

And that’s no way to live (and certainly not a Life Stoked).

That’s why it’s so important to discover your core values. These values act as a filter in your life for decisions big and small, and once you know them you’ll be able move forward with greater confidence, ease, and happiness.

Listen to this audio to learn:
– How reaching my goal of working for a web startup wasn’t as awesome as I’d hoped.
– The key foundation I was missing for future achievement.
– How to calibrate your ‘GPS’ to make tough decisions crystal clear.

019: The real keys to success from a serial entrepreneur (with Jason Cohen)

July 7, 2014 By deacon 6 Comments

jason-cohenJason Cohen has done something few others have succeeded at: He’s bootstrapped a business. He knows what it takes to go from fledgling idea to seven figures in revenue.

And he’s done it four times.

While most aspiring entrepreneurs dream of being where Jason is today, he’s quick to point out that focusing on the goal of “success” (whatever that means) will ultimately lead to failure and heartache.

In this interview Jason shares:
– one incredibly valuable skill for any leader to have (and how to develop it).
– how to make sure you’re focus is in the right place to succeed.
– the characteristic that sets Jason apart.

Whether your dream is to be a serial entrepreneur like Jason, or a much different path, Jason’s wisdom, experience, and insights into what it really takes to be successful will be an asset to your journey.

What Do I Do Next? The Simple Way To Make The Best Decision

May 21, 2013 By deacon Leave a Comment

half-pipe-snowWhen you’re working towards a goal there are always more things to do. Every day you have to make choices about what to do next, and what to put off a while. There’s only so much you can get done in a day!

Choosing what to do next is one of the most important decisions you make. Get it right, and you’ll rocket towards your goal. Get it wrong, and you’ll flounder around forever.

I’ve done both.

The difference was how I chose what to do next. Here’s something I learned from Tony Robbins to help you decide what action to take next.

Do the thing you fear the most.

List all the things you think you need to do to take the next step to your goal. Find the one that really scares you. Do it next.

How I got this wrong

Years ago I decided I wanted to start a business helping people do better with their money. I’ve always been into personal finance, and I thought this would be a great way to do two things I love: helping people win, and personal finance.

Does Your Life Pass The Fireside Chat Test?

February 19, 2013 By deacon 6 Comments

the-fireside-chat-testImagine yourself at a party. You’re relaxing in a chair by the fireplace when a guy in the adjacent chair starts making small talk. As you share a little about what you’ve been up to lately, your new friend leans in. He doesn’t want to miss a word of your story.

Soon you notice others nearby abandoning their own conversations to listen in. Your fascinating experience draws them in close. They don’t want to miss a thing.

What is it they find so interesting? What’s so amazing about you people can’t get enough of?

Maybe you’ve met someone like this before. Perhaps you’ve been a member of the crowd listening in as someone else shares their own real life epic. Your mind wanders back to their adventure as you sit at your desk waiting for your next meeting, or as you daydream sitting in traffic.

What to do when your list of goals becomes way too long

October 3, 2012 By deacon Leave a Comment

achieving too many goalsYou want to be more successful. You want more wins, bigger wins, and to achieve something awesome! I get it, I do too.

I dedicate a significant amount of energy to goal setting and tracking my progress towards those goals. I read books about how to continue to reach higher levels, and how to achieve more of my goals.

Before I know it, I’ve got a list a mile long of tasks I need to tick off to reach my goals. It’s overwhelming at times. But if I want to succeed I have to somehow figure out how to get all this stuff done right?

Not necessarily.
