What’s on deck for Life Stoked in 2013

life-stoked-2013-goalsThis time of year is always exciting for me. I spend time looking back at how the last year went. I take note of things that are working really well, and things that are not, and try to figure out what I want the next year to look like.

That’s the exciting part! I figure out exactly where I want to be this time next year, and I plan out exactly what I’ll be writing about in this post to wrap up the year. Then I figure out what I need to do to make that happen.

Did you catch that? I’ve already got a pretty good idea of what I’ll get to write in this blog post next year. If you take goal setting seriously, and you do it right, then you get to plan in advance what you’ll accomplish. Practicing this one skill has done more for me than anything else I learned in school!

Now I won’t say that everything always goes exactly according to plan, because it doesn’t. But I guarantee it goes a heck of a lot better than not planning!

So 2012 was a big year for me, my family, and for Life Stoked. I had some huge mile stones that really made this year memorable. If I could sum it up in one word, this year was about learning for me. Here are the highlights.

Crush 2012: I kicked off 2012 with a three week workshop helping people set and achieve big goals. It was a great chance to share all that I’ve learned about taking dreams and putting actions to them to get real results. So what happened to Crush 2013? I’ve been pretty busy lately, and I to be honest I haven’t had the overwhelming interest in putting on another workshop like that (If you’d like to learn how to supercharge your achievement, just drop me a note. I’d love to know if i was wrong on this one).

Gideon joins the team: Without a doubt, the biggest event of 2012 for my family was the addition of Gideon – our first kid! We knew things were going to change a lot when he arrived, but I don’t think anything could have prepared us for just how much. It’s taken a few months and a ton of experiments to figure out how to remain productive enough to keep Life Stoked pumped full of value.

Oh, and thanks to those of your who stuck with me through that lull in content :)

Lifestyle Business eBook: It’s no secret one of my biggest passions for a number of years is building a lifestyle business. I wanted to create something for Life Stoked Nation to show you just how awesome this new world can be, and so I wrote this eBook (get it free on my mailing list).

I’m stoked I invested the time in creating this because people were fired up about the ideas and the real world case studies (and who wouldn’t be right). Life Stoked is about creating a life you’re excited to live, and what better fit for that than your own business designed around your ideal lifestyle.

Business coaching: This fall I also started working with people one-on-one to help them get their businesses off the ground and running smoothly. Because what’s the point of getting people fired up about starting a business if you can’t help them actually do it, right?

That was 2012 in a nutshell. Pretty awesome.

It’s 2013 that I’m SUPER stoked on though. Here’s some of what you can expect in 2013:

Life Stoked core content: With my recent focus on helping people with their businesses I’ve been writing a lot more about business topics than I did in the past. For you OG Life Stoked readers, I’ll be getting back to the meat and potatoes that make this site a must read (like this personal favorite article)!

Life Stoked is about creating a life you’re excited to live, and while entrepreneurship resonates strongly with that idea it’s not the only thing. Look for more posts about how to break through barriers to be freaking awesome, how to produce at super-human levels, and some of the best stuff I’ve learned to help me create an awesome life.

And of course there will be enough business stuff mixed in to help you build that epic lifestyle business as well.

Interviews: I know a lot of rad people you should meet. People who are great leaders, teachers, and examples of what it means to live a Life Stoked. I’m looking forward to introducing them to you through video interviews because they’re going to teach you some amazing stuff! Coming soon!

Micro Biz Workshop: I’m especially stoked about this. I’ve been around a ton of micro business startups over the past few years, and I noticed a common problem.

You’re having trouble getting started, and you’re having trouble getting clients! You’re either throwing in the towel without ever having landed the business you need to succeed, or you’re spending way too much time trying to force an idea that’s never going to work.

So how do you speed up the process of launching a successful business? That’s exactly what this workshop is about, and I couldn’t be more stoked. I’m putting the finishing touches on it over the next few weeks, and if you want to be notified of my progress along the way.

I’ve got some massive goals set for Life Stoked in 2013, and I’m already getting started to make sure I reach those goals. Looking forward to kicking off an awesome year! As I keep telling my wife lately while I’m going through the goal setting process:

“All day long I’m either so fired up I can hardly stand it, or so freaked out I can hardly move.”

Her response, “That’s how you know you’re doing the right thing.”

I love her!

Congrats on Gideon’s addition! I’m excited to see how you grow life stoked and your coaching.

I’m going to be focusing on building up a solid subscriber base (been sluggish recently), building up my ranks and starting freelancing on the side to generate some social proof, great feedback, as well as income.

It’s a long way to the top!

Hey thanks Joe! 2012 was a big year, but I know 2013 will put it to shame ;) .

What type of freelance work are you planning on doing?
